THEATRE CREATORS' RESERVE PROGRAM

Factory Theatre is delighted to be participating in the Ontario Arts Council’s Theatre Creator’s Reserve Program, which is invaluable for the continued support of all Ontario theatre creators. Factory strives to be “The Home of the Canadian Playwright” with play development at its core and through this program we are looking forward to establishing new artistic relationships while maintaining and enriching the ones we already have with our community.

The Theatre Creator’s Reserve program is a third-party recommender program – approved theatre companies receive a grant allocation, which they in turn are able to grant to creators who make applications directly to them. The OAC trusts that theatre companies know which creators would benefit most from a grant at any given time, and know which creators have most merit. The objective of this program is to deliver money to professional artists for them to “buy time” to work on creation, and to help theatre companies develop relationships with artists who they may not be familiar with.

Check out the OAC website to see if your project is eligible, and go through the guidelines for details specific to your project. You can download the application directly from the website or go to the OAC offices on the fifth floor of 151 Bloor Street to pick up a hard copy.

Guidelines for Factory:

1. Factory is accepting applications until November 25, 2011. No late applications will be accepted.

2. Grants awarded will be between $1000 and $5000.

3. We are looking for:

       a.projects that reflect our cultural diversity
       b.young voices that speak to youth issues
       c.unique, theatrical investigations in form
       d.groundbreaking projects from established playwrights
       e.work that explores new methods of creation, including collective creation

4. Please include three (3) copies of the application, a project description, bios and resumes of the applicants and creative team, writing samples where relevant, and a SASE for notification of results.
