Bio

Makram is an award-winning, community-engaged theatre artist and educator living between Edmonton and Toronto. His playwriting explores representations of queer Arab voices and bridges interlocking political struggles to the intimate experiences of the people impacted by them. Ayache is the 2020 PGC’s Tom Hendry Award recipient for his play Harun.

In 2022, his play The Hooves Belonged to the Deer will premiere as a audio-drama through Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Also in 2022, Downstage and Chromatic Theatre will stage the world premiere of Makram’s play, The Green Line, in Calgary, Alberta.

He is pleased to explore his large scaled interdisciplinary project, Jericho: A Mythology of Capitalism through Factory Theatre’s Foundry Program this year! Find more at makramayache.com, insta: @makramrayache
