OAC Recommender Grants For Theatre Creators

Factory Theatre is once again happy to serve as a recommender for the Ontario Arts Council’s Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators (RGTCs). Factory is seeking proposals for new theatrical works from Ontario-based playwrights, creators, and collectives. Factory is excited about script-based work, collaborative explorations, and many other forms of theatrical expression. We are so excited to meet you, and encourage applications from a wide variety of experiences and practices.

About the Grants

The Recommender Grants are seed funding for theatre creators to generate new work. Creators are not obligated to “deliver” a script or performance at the end of the grant period. Recommendations range from $1,000 – $3,000.

Professional artists applying must be Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents, or have an application for Permanent Residency pending, and must be a resident of the province of Ontario. For more information on the program guidelines, please visit the OAC website.

Application Process

Applications are read by Associate Artistic Director Kalale Dalton-Lutale and are then shortlisted. Shortlisted Applications are read by a small committee of Factory Staff, who together make the list of final recommendations. How to Apply

Factory only accepts applications through NOVA, OAC’s online granting system. Please note that applicants may only apply to a maximum of five (5) recommending companies. Factory encourages you to carefully consider our stated policy above and all stated guidelines from the OAC.

Applications answers in NOVA; c.v. and script samples are mandatory. If your proposed work is not script-based, please clearly outline what you envision with the work.
