2024-2025 Factory Season Recap
A bustling season of diverse programming
We saw premiers, festivals, plays, musicals, improv, development workshops and training programs cross our stages. The season was spent investigating what collaboration looks like on all levels from creation to production. We delved deeper into our mission to cultivate cutting edge Canadian work from a diversity of visionary voices. Focusing in on our black box Studio Theatre, we got intimate and up close with some of the most innovative creators Toronto has to offer. Then we ballooned out and got big and loud for Factory 55! We activated the whole building to mark our 55th birthday in style.
Thank you to our amazing community of artists, volunteers, audiences and donors for an amazing season!
2024-2025 Season Highlights
We premiered four brand new works this past year, including ROSA by Carlos Rivera in partnership with Aluna Theatre, HONEY I’M HOME by Alaine Hutton and Lauren Gillis in partnership with Lester Trips (theatre), TRUCK by Graham Isador in partnership with Presgang Theatre and The Cunning Linguist by Monica Garrido in partnership with TCL collective and Aluna Theatre. We love new work! We know you do too.
We also welcomed remounts of stunning work we knew you had to see. I Don’t Even Miss You by Elena Belyea came to us all the way from Edmonton in partnership with Tiny Bear Jaws. We collab’ed with Bad Dog Theatre to bring you remounts of the hit improv shows Holiday! an Improvised Musical by Jan Caruana and Hookup by Paul Bates.
True to mission, we continued to invest in artists and the development of their work. In the winter, we incubated a brand new piece from Makram Ayache: Small Gods the Musical. We hosted several festivals and development programs. Our theatre homed the RUTAS Festival from Aluna Theatre, First Drafts from Theatre Sheridan, rpsfest from bcurrent, and Young, Gifted and Black from Obsidian Theatre. And, of course, we saw another season of supporting the abundant talent within our city with another instalment of our Training Enhancement Programs.

We go into this summer reflecting on a terrific season of abundance and a 55 year legacy of championing Canadian work.
And we aren’t slowing down.
