Job Posting: Marketing Associate
LOCATION: Toronto, ON.
TYPE: Part-Time (20 hours per week).
COMPENSATION: $29,500 annual salary.
DATES: Negotiable start date in September 2025. Permanent position.
A part-time contract position suited for an early-career nonprofit and/or theatre professional with experience in marketing and communications.
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Artistic Director and Factory’s producing team, the Communications Associate is responsible for planning and executing marketing campaigns for Factory productions and other company projects. The role also plays a key role supporting our season partners and rental clients to promote their shows and events. The position requires a highly organized and collaborative approach to work, as well as a basic competency with design and social media software tools and a familiarity with Toronto’s theatre and culture scenes.
Core Objectives and Responsibilities
- Create, manage, and implement direct marketing campaigns for Factory productions and programs, including paid media buys, digital marketing, copywriting, promotional assets, and cross-promotions.
- Support the marketing efforts of Factory’s season partners (guest companies and co-producers), with specific responsibility for coordinating house programmes, video trailers, and archival documentation.
- Supervise the creation of all marketing and branding collateral such as photo, video, and graphic design, including supervision of contracted designers / suppliers.
- Manage Factory’s online presence: schedule and generate content for regular email and social media communications and regularly update the company website.
- Work closely with artists, partners, and other departments to gather information, schedule participation in marketing activities, and secure input and approvals on copy and collateral
- Work closely with Factory’s Patron Services department to coordinate event ticketing, sales, promotions, and patron communications.
- Support Factory’s Development department to collaborate on the messaging and schedule of fundraising communications.
- Oversee and manage the work of external contractors, including graphic design, video, photography, and media relations.
Qualifications
A creative individual with high professional standards, a strong attention to detail, and a capacity for working directly in collaboration with artists and partners in support of a collective vision. A high level of comfort with technology & data and an ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy is a must, as is a working knowledge of the local theatre and arts ecology.
Work Conditions
- All Factory employees start with 3 weeks equivalent of paid vacation, 5 days paid personal leave, and 10 days un-paid leave.
- Eligible for participation in group health benefits plan after 90 days.
- Flexible schedule as some evening and weekend work is required.
- Access to a shared employee fund for professional development, including travel and event/performance tickets where appropriate.
- Option for hybrid office hours as only some tasks require in- person presence at office/theatre.
- Factory operates on Windows, MS Office / Outlook, Spektrix (CRM & ticketing database), Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and Airtable.
- Must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
