Ganesh Thava is a Tamil-Canadian writer, director and actor. He explores everyday moments like family feuds or love affairs and investigates them from underrepresented perspectives. He especially seeks to explore the intersectionalities within these lived experiences through the lenses of ethnicity, status and sexuality. Ganesh’s original play, KOLI KARI, explores the fraying relationship between an immigrant son and his mother. His feature film, MAN ABROAD, following the unlikely romance between a Tamil man and his fiance’s brother, was shortlisted for the Whistler Film Festival’s Screenwriters Lab. In 2021, he directed the Primetime Award-winning Toronto Fringe show, MY KOREAN CANADIAN FRIEND. His directorial debut film, THE ORCHID & THE TREE, premiered at the Reel Asian Film Festival.
