Nine Desbaillet

Bio

Nine spent the first 25 years of her life in Geneva, Switzerland, where she worked as a photographer and camerawoman for Swiss public television (RTS). She moved to Montreal in 2004. By enrolling her children in theatre classes, she found her way into improvisation and acting herself. She is a trainee member of the UDA.

Her time at the National Theatre School of Canada in 2020, in the Creation–Production program, marked the convergence of her passions: stage performance, the immediate relationship with an audience, and image-making. With her strong aesthetic sensibility, she went on to become a lighting designer. Through encounters and collaborations, she continues to develop a distinctive, luminous, and color-driven visual signature.
