Bio

Reese Cowley is a Sri Lankan-Canadian actor and playwright. Born and raised in New Westminster, BC she now lives in Toronto, ON. Reese is a graduate of the Theatre and Drama Studies program at the University of Toronto Mississauga and Sheridan College. Recent acting credits include Lesson In Forgetting (Pleiades Theatre), The Hite Report (Post-Hypnotic Press), Fefu and Her Friends (Theatre Erindale), An Enemy of the People (Theatre Erindale). Reese has previously been a Riotous Youth Intern with Bard on the Beach in Vancouver, and continues to work with them as a Teaching Artist for their summer programming. As a playwright, Reese has written and directed an adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, entitled Aftermath, performed at Theatre Erindale’s Beck Festival. Reese has had the pleasure of developing her first full-length play with the Sawaan Collective Playwright’s Unit as well as Playwrights Theatre Centre’s Block A Playwright’s Unit. She is the recipient of creation grants from the Ontario Arts Council as well as the Toronto Arts Council and continues to develop her play with their generous support.
