Bio

Ryan G. Hinds is a critically-acclaimed theatre artist. Recently, he completed a two-year Artist Residency at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Credits include My Barbarian’s Post Paradise at New Museum in New York City (sold out run), the 2015 Fringe hit Starry Notions (Best of Fringe from Torontoist and Mooney, Outstanding Performance from NOW Magazine), a tour of the cabaret #Kanderandebb, MacAthur Park Suite: A Disco Ballet at Summerworks Festival, both the premiere and the re-mount of lemontree Creations’ dance-theatre hybrid MSM: Men Seeking Men, and Booker T. Washington in the musical Ragtime opposite Mark Cassius.

Notably, he is one of only a few people to have been in both the movie version (as a hed-head) and a stage production (as Hedwig) of Hedwig & the Angry Inch, and is proud to have been the first black actor to play the role of Hedwig. His festival work has been seen across the country and in the US and Brazil. He has performed with Liza Minnelli, Todrick Hall, Debbie Reynolds, Billy Stritch, Lady Bunny, and many more, and is the recipient of the prestigious $10,000 Steinert & Ferreiro Award from Community One Foundation.
