Summer is a Queer Pakistani-Tanzanian Director, Actor, Writer, and Musician. Their work draws inspiration from the theatre of the absurd and their training in Western classical piano and Eastern classical vocals, which together with their passion for storytelling within the realm of theater shapes their artistic endeavors.

Previously, they worked in Karachi, Pakistan with The Arts Council, NAPA, CAPA, T2F, and World Music Week Karachi,  and subsequently in Tio’tià:ke (Montreal), where they have served as the Art Director and Producer for TNC Theatre, and as an Artistic Associate with Teesri Duniya Theatre, and as Bass Guitarist for sapphic grunge band Hildeguard. Now, they are very excited to be bringing their life and work to Tkarón:to.

Summer’s process is centred around form, and the existential human conditions that connect us. They are interested in the here-ness and the now-ness of theatre.

Recent credits include Assistant Directing Counter Offence (2023) under director Murdoch Schon and The Retreat (2023) under artistic director Krista Jackson, as well as acting in the first bilingual production of the Chinese modern classic Rhinoceros in Love. Additionally, Summer served as Co-writer, Director, Actor, and Co-producer on their original piece All’s Well That Ends that they presented at the Montreal Fringe Festival 2023.
