Bio

Yago (he/him) is an emerging queer, Brazilian-Canadian (Latinx) theatre creator from Toronto. He is a recent graduate of Humber College’s Theatre Performance Program, where he trained in physical theatre and devised collective creation. Select performance credits include TommorowLove™️ by Rosamund Small (dir. Christopher Stanton), Sirens: Elektra in Bosnia by Judith Thompson (presented as Elektra, dir. Richard Greenblatt). Most recently, Yago worked on zugunruhe, his final project at Humber which he wrote, performed, and directed.

Yago is an alumnus of Theatre Gargantua’s Emerging Artists Roundtable and Expect Theatre’s Beats + Intentions Playwright Unit. His short play, 2 Across: An Offer of ____ (4 Down) (dir. Kelisha Daley) premiered at the ActFast Theatre Festival in 2019.

As a member of The Foundry, Yago is currently developing his play, CHEW, with the support of the OAC’s Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators. As his first full-length project, he is beyond excited and grateful to develop this piece at Factory Theatre.
