Bio

Originally from Okotoks, Alberta, Eva Barrie is a Dora Award-winning actor, director, creator, producer, and the Co-Artistic Director of Shakespeare in the Ruff. She has been the playwright in residence at Theatrefront, in the Factory Theatre Natural Resources creation group, and her work has been commissioned by Tarragon Theatre. Her writing has been supported by Tarragon Theatre, The Theatre Centre, Theatre Smith-Gilmour, Theatre Gargantua, DaPoPo Theatre, Shakespeare in the Ruff, Theatrefront, Factory Theatre, the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Canada Council for the Arts. She graduated from Ryerson University’s Performance Acting Program and has trained with Anne Bogart’s SITI Company in Saratoga Springs, NY and New York City, NY. Most recently, she was Tarragon Theatre’s Urjo Kareda Residency Recipient, focusing on training in new play development and artistic direction.
